Sex-shops are engaged in import substitution
The sex-shop rating is made by the service 2GIS which is engaged in creation of cards and reference books of all organizations in the Russian Federation. According to their data, there are in St. Petersburg 2,6 shops for adults, in Moscow – 1,8 sex shops make the share of 100 thousand of the population. Yekaterinburg with the indicator of 7,8 is the leader of the rating.
Main question: whether the number of shops for adults in Russia is reduced or, on the contrary, grows? At the beginning of the year the analytics gave depressive forecasts: the market has to fall to 40%, and every fifth shop will be closed. But realities crossed out negative predictions. The market of erotic goods feels remarkably.
Crisis hasn’t reflected in this area, shops in large quantities aren’t closed. The only thing that changed: people began to buy more often cheap analogs instead of expensive originals. In Russia there are very few such shops in comparison to Europe. There they are everywhere: at stations, at the airports, shopping centers. Statistically, 47% of Europeans visit sex shops. For them it is absolutely normal – as buying bread and milk. And by us only 7% go to sex shops.
The modern world shows that sex shops become branch of medicine. Our society lags behind the modern world. Stuff that we sell, doctors-urologists recommend for prevention of cancer.
The erotic industry needs to be in a trend with all country and to develop import substitution, to develop own brands and serious toys. The design, quality of material, durability of modern domestic products now are not better than import, but this is the matter of time.
According to the president of National institute of psychology and sexology professor Lev Shcheglov, influence of crisis on the Russian market of erotic goods, perhaps, may affect later. So far it is too early to estimate consequences.
There is no official reference book in Russia. The rating has been done upon the data of all selling companies and retail shops that work with adult industry products.
